Beginning Your Adventure

There is no single path through Mazes and Monsters. As a fresh character, you can improve through levels and skills, better equipment, and quests discovered while exploring.

This page introduces several progression paths worth watching for without revealing their exact steps.

Rubberbar in Kesmai Forest sells weapons that can be upgraded as your adventures continue. O' Holy Knight sells the enhancement books used to improve those weapons.

If you want a weapon that can grow with your character, seek out both merchants and consider how this path fits your preferred weapon skills.

When visiting your class trainers, look around for nearby quest-givers. They can begin your journey toward improved armor suited to your character.

Armor progression continues as your character develops, so the areas around your trainers are worth revisiting from time to time.

Each of the main lands has collection quests and Collectors interested in particular finds. Keep an eye out for them whenever you reach a new land.

Exploration may leave you carrying objects whose purpose is not immediately clear. A Collector may be the person who gives that discovery meaning.

Sir McBounty can be found throughout the main lands and offers bounty quests for adventurers looking for another challenge.

When you enter unfamiliar territory, watch for him. Bounties are one more way to discover what that land has to offer while putting your growing combat abilities to use.

The Quest Journal tracks quests you have accepted, their current instructions, and your progress toward their objectives. Open it with Alt+J by default, or assign a different binding from the Hotkeys window.

Continue speaking with NPCs and exploring each land to discover new quests. Check your journal regularly to keep track of the paths you have already begun.

Whenever your travels take you somewhere new, take time to look for:

• class trainers and nearby quest-givers;
• Collectors;
• Sir McBounty; and
• merchants with equipment that supports your next goal.

Talk to the people you meet and check your quest journal regularly. These paths can be explored alongside ordinary leveling rather than in one required order.
